
Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass Music, penned many songs in which he spoke of -or evenly casually mentioned- the hills he loved so dearly. Here are a few:
"The First Whippoorwill"; "Footprints In The Snow"; "I'm Going Back to the Old Home"; and an entirely different tune with a similar title called "I'm on My Way Back to the Old Home"; "I'm Waiting For You"; "Little Cabin Home on the Hill"; "Mother's Only Sleeping"; "My Rose of Old Kentucky"; "Old, Old House"; "Roane County Prison" and "Why Did You Wander" to name a few.
