Upcoming Winter Bluegrass Jams Around Home
Below are some of the Bluegrass jams that Mary and I plan on attending in February. (If you are planning to attend, please be sure to verify each event prior to traveling).
Mondays: February 6, 13, 20, 27 at The Sunshine Market (Pierce's) in Elizabethton.
Thursdays: February 2, 9, 16, 23 Unicoi Christian Church Fellowship Hall (Red Barn winter meeting place).
Fridays: February 3 Temple Hill Sheriff's satellite building.(More info coming on actual dates of additional meetings)
Saturdays: February 4, 11, 18, 25 Rheatown Market in Rheatown.
Note: There are also jams each Tuesday night in Bluff City at the Emergency Squad Building. (Mary and I have been reluctant to attend because we always get home so late from these jams.) They're great jams, though.
Note: Roy, the owner of the Sunshine Market in Elizabethton, has offered his place of business to Bluegrass musicians to come and play in the store area on Friday and Saturday evenings as well as the Monday nights that are already in full swing. This market makes a great place to pick. There is plenty of seating and the deli will be more than happy to make a BLT and Fries, or some hotdogs, or all other kinds of great meals while you're listening to the pickers.

Cranberry Thistle in Jonesborough is Closed
I was informed yesterday, January 27th, by good authority that the Cranberry Thistle in Jonesborough is closed until further notice. All regularly scheduled bands were notified and have adjusted their schedules to reflect such closing. I was not informed as to the specific reason for the closing, but I suspect it may be due to a poorly functioning economy. Mary and I will miss the place very much and we wish the owners the very best of luck.
