The Senior Center

11/19/2011

Apart from our many friends in the Bluegrass "world" down here in Tennessee, there's another "world" Mary and I both enjoy and that is our many friends at the Senior Center.
I probably will miss some first names (and don't know many of the last names, yet) but here are the fellows that play billiards nearly every day at the Center and welcome both Mary and I with open arms each and every time we show up to play pool: Ish, James, Loy, Roy (2 Roys), Willard, Millard, Marvin, "Red", Terry, "Buster", Frank, Charley, Dave, Jack, Henry, Kenneth and a couple of others that escape me right now.

I've added a couple of new pages to this site and posted lots of new pictures to several other pages, too. Check out "Historic Carter Fold" and "Historic Jonesborough". Mary has taken and shared some beautiful photos. I'll be posting more pictures, too.

Rock Creek Opry Closed for Season

11/3/2011

I spoke with Robert Crigger, host of the Bluegrass jams at the Rock Creek Opry Place in Erwin, TN., and he informed me that due to the high costs of electricity and the absense of the necessary sales to offset such costs, he has closed the building. We all pretty much knew this was coming as attendance kept falling and sales kept dropping.
Each and every one of us owe a debt of gratitude to Robert for shouldering these expenses for so long and for keeping the building open so long for our enjoyment. I personally am so happy to have made his acquaintence. He's a very interesting man to converse with.
Also, I'd like to note that Mary and I made several friends while attending these functions and we hope we're able to continue seeing them at other Bluegrass functions within the area.
Again, our many THANKS to Robert Crigger for such southern hospitality!
