Band Pages Quite Active!

It's nice to see the Band pages so active lately. To me, it means there's a lot of curiousity. "Dreadnought" has seen a sharp rise in page hits lately. I really enjoyed being in that band. When I was a member, the band consisted of Steve Walker, his wife Dawn, guitarist Tom Ritchie and me. Steve and I switched back and forth on mandolin and banjo while Dawn kept a steady bottom end with the standup. Carry on, good people.

"Bleeker Mountain" is also getting lots of page hits. Steve and Joyce Lane and Steve's brother, Leroy (on resonator guitar) and others make up this band. I'm not sure as to who all is in the band anymore, because, sadly, I did not get the opportunity to see Steve and others this past summer. I so much looked forward to seeing him, because for one thing, he's my favorite singer of all times and secondly, I'm playing a guitar he hand built. What a beautiful instrument, indeed! Best wishes to all of you.

The "Food Stamp Ramblers" is another band receiving many page hits per day. I enjoyed this band, too. Lots of old-time fiddling, old country and an occasional bluegrass ballad thrown in for good measure. Phyllis, Joe, Donnie and other(s) have continued playing as "The Perkins Family" and are lining up a busy spring and summer. They've been popular for decades, so it's never a problem staying musically busy for them. Tally Ho!

"Wrench's Wranglers" is another band getting lots and lots of page hits. This band is a group that gets together each year at the Penny Festival and at Ted Wrench's festival. It's comprised of whoever Ted wants in it at the time they go on. There's no practice before hand and it is truly one of the best groups you could imagine listening to. The entertainment value is soaring! I just love being a part of the band when asked to do so. This year, unfortunately, I was not able to attend either festival and as a consequence, missed out on the fun. Perhaps another time.

Anyway, I miss them all and wish them all well in the new year. Each and every one of them have brought joy to my life in so many ways.
