After a brief moment for us all to get in tune, we began working on familiarity with staffs, the treble, alto and bass clefs, time and key signatures, scales in both sharps and flats and even hit briefly on triads built from major and minor thirds and their chord inversions. After the lessons were completed, several of us stayed behind and picked some Bluegrass. It was a fun night.
Many of the attendees asked to have the class each week and others wanted a class every two weeks. Since there's actually quite a bit of work involved in preparing each PowerPoint presentation, I wouldn't be able to have the class each week. But I'll certainly entertain the idea of holding it every other week. I'll take a poll at our next class (scheduled for February 12th, same place, same time) and see what the overall consensus is.
Anyway, it was an enjoyable evening for us all spent furthering our understanding of Bluegrass music, the music we truly all love.
