In addition to all the bands, it's lots of fun catching up with our many friends. Like Bill, Val and Marge; Steve and Joyce Lane; Leroy Lane; Tom Kuhne; Jim Warren; Don & Lois Hudson; Kenny & Laura Meyer; Rick & Colleen Moon; Butch & Melody Ryan and the elder Ryans; Carl and Bernie Kithcart; Gene Clayton; John Drost; John and Joyce Warner; Linda (the bass player); Rich (Adk Rebel); Dick & Pat Burdo; Harold Burdo; Richie and Audrey Steenburn; Junior Place and Duane Ormsby.................and so many, many more.
I will also miss the opportunity to play in the Wrench's Wrangler's band (if asked to do so). For the last several years I have played either a fiddle, guitar, or a mandolin in Ted's makeshift, impromptu group he puts together just before closing out the show on Sunday night. This is the highlight of Ted's festival where Ted get's to enjoy his friends the utmost by entertaining them in the audience and on stage. Being a part of this is very rewarding. Ted is a wonderful man and has zillions of friends and admirers.
In times of need, friends are the greatest resource a person has. Being able to anticipate one's friend's hardships and provide for their comforts without asking for reward is a gift few have, especially in this day and age. Ted and Brenda are these type people as are those listed above and Mary and I both missed seeing them through hardships of our own.
Maybe next year.
