Back in 2011, on this day, we took possession of a very nice studio apartment in the township of Afton, near Greeneville, TN. It was a beautiful home surrounded by rolling hills and farm fields dotted with cows, horses and mules. Within a couple of days, we had met musician friends and I was pickin' up a storm a couple of nights a week. But, both of us missed the mountains. We could see them some thirty miles to the South but it was not the same as living "in" them.
So, to the shock of everyone around us, we moved to Limestone Cove in the Unaka Mountain Wilderness area. Ah!, that's better. After having spent 60 years in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State, we just simply had to have our mountain setting.
Immediately we met dozens of musician friends and I became a member of six different bands at one time for a while before backing off to just a couple. We moved here to Tennessee to play music and take photos and we surely have done so!
Within the past two years, I've personally met over 700 Bluegrass musicians and picked with around 400. Mary has taken literally thousands of beautiful photographs of stunning landscapes, forests, fauna and wonderful people.
Anyway, we love it here. We love the beauty and the beautiful people. We're glad to be citizens of this great state.
