Bluegrass Practice for "Rock Creek Ramblers", July 8th, 2016
The "Rock Creek Ramblers" have performed for 15 years in a row at the Rock Creek State Park, but tonight the event was cancelled at the last minute due to a severe thunderstorm coming through the Erwin area. Members that were assembled for this yearly tradition were: Steve Harrill, F. B. White, Jerry Sams, Ron Duncan and yours truly. Another man was scheduled to be a part of the music, too, but apparently was delayed landing at the Asheville, NC airport. Pictures # 1 and 3 were taken by Sherry Duncan. Picture #2, taken by me, is of 87-year old F.B. White, posing with his 1940 Martin guitar which he purchased new at a music store in Elizabethton.

An Afternoon with Keith Williams, Violin Maker, 6-28-2016
Henry Barnett and I spent an afternoon visiting with our good friend, Keith Williams. It's a fascinating time being around Keith and listening to him share his wealth of knowledge pertaining to violin making and mechanical engineering. His violins are sought after by people who demand the very best in tone, playability and durability. The extreme care he exercises in choice of tonewoods and precision in handcrafting pays off handsomely to those fortunate enough to own one of his violins.

Bluff City, May 10, 2016
Below, in the first picture taken by Sherry Duncan, I am seated playing the fiddle. Next to me, on my right is Dave Wilhoit, Daniel Houseright and Ray Dearstone, all playing guitars. The empty chair next to Ray was occupied most of the evening by Randy Singleton who played banjo. Next to Randy were a couple I see once in a while. The mandolinist is seated on Randy's right (I don't know her name) and she comes with Daniel Whited who plays guitar. Next, on the upright bass is Phil Hensley and then last is a fellow named Jeff ?.
After playing quite a while with the large group in the main room, I went to a smaller room and played with Jerry Sams, Ron Duncan and Gail Evans. (Photo by Sherry Duncan).
Many other musicians were present and playing in the other larger rooms. It surely was a music-filled evening.

Bluegrass Picking Party in Gray, TN., May 8, 2016
I had a great time playing my fiddle at the Bluegrass jam session at Ron Lane's studio in Gray. Ron Duncan played mandolin, guitar and sang; Ron Lane picked his Stelling Red Fox banjo and sang; Jerry Coleman played guitar and sang; Terry Taylor played mandolin and sang; Jerry McCarty played bass and sang; Jim Stidman played his hand-built guitar (he's an amazing instrument builder, having built guitars a fiddles); Burl Manis played lead and rhythm guitar and sang; and I played fiddle and a little bit of banjo.
Bluegrass Festival in Deep Gap, NC, May 7, 2016
I played this festival with Denny Key, guitar and vocals; Janet Calhoun, mandolin and vocals; Gail Evans, upright bass and vocals; and yours truly, banjo and fiddle. The threesome on stage in the pictures below is an abbreviated cast from the band "Strickly Strings" from the Boone, North Carolina area. They shared this event with our group, making it a two-band festival. I wasn't able to get pictures of our group playing since I was playing banjo and unable to take pictures.
