Be sure and read about my recent gift. Under the "Blog" heading, click on The Walter I. Robinson Violin.
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the theory page to listen to my new tune I call "Beard Hair on the Fiddle". I wrote it on the 26th of April, 2010 (yesterday). I put a harmony line with it. You can click the mouse and enlarge the tune as sheet music or right click and print. It was a lot of fun to write and is a lot of fun to play. Give it a try.
Just a reminder to those taking the different music theory quizzes that you are able to check your answers to each quiz by clicking your mouse on the click HERE indication at the bottom of each quiz. This will allow you to catch any mistake before submitting your final answers or even after doing so. I do not have a method available to individually email participants with the correct answers, so be sure to check the correct answers after you've taken the tests. Thank you for taking the time to participate.
Figures are in for the month of March downloads of tunes from my Namaste and Blue Almonds CDs.
94% of Namaste downloads were on Emusic and 6% on itunes and others. 100% of the audio streams were from France and Switzerland from Deezer. The highest % of downloads were from the United States. Top 5 plays were: Lori; Prelude In A; Carousel; Nocturne In D Flat; and Naiad. Top 5 downloads were: A Shaman's Dream; Nebula; Elysium; Prelude In A; and Carousel.
92% of Blue Almonds downloads were on Emusic and the remainder were from itunes and others. 100% of the audio streams were from Deezer from France, and Switzerland. The highest % of downloads were from the good old USA. The top 5 plays and top 5 downloads were essentially the same (within a few hundreths of a percentage point) and they were: Nocturne In B; Jay-henge; Waltz Of The Santanoni; Camenae Dance; and Numen The Blue Stone.
Thank You to all my Fans. A special "Welcome" to those from Singapore who have been frequenting this site.
I've posted a fiddle tune I wrote many years ago in the Theory section. I've scored it for a harmony line and included a computerized recording of the 2 fiddles playing it. I also will delve into the structure of the tune for theory enthusiasts. I also want to thank those who have such an interest in the theory for their questions. Scroll all the way to the bottom on the Theory Page. Thanks.
Thus far, everyone has entered correct answers. The questions are not really all that simple having to do with music theory, so it's encouraging to learn that so many talented musicians are participating and scoring so well.
As time permits, I will continue posting additional questions for more theory fun.
Thanks for taking the time to answer the quizzes.
I've created a new page called "Interesting Links". It's under the "Pics 1" tab. Check out the links. They're cool!
I've included information about a couple of DVDs that I composed the music soundtracks for. Click on the "Hobby Music" tab and then the "Cinematic Bluegrass" page and scroll down towards the bottom. Or, check it out on the "Store" tab under the "Mail Order" page. Or click on these links:
I've recently added a few more pictures to the site. A couple of pictures taken at Dave Nichol's Custom Pearl Inlay shop of some of his tried-and-true friends jamming with him; a couple of pics of my good friend Will Challet who recently passed away; some newspaper clippings from years ago of the band Dreadnought from the Governeur area of northern New York state; and an old clipping from a newspaper in Maine showing a pickin' party at the Pelletier's in Fayette. The pictures are scattered around this website so feel free to browse around. Clicking on certain photos will enlarge them while clicking on some other photos may take you to other pages.
Joe and Phyllis Ezero, Donnie Perkins and Fred Warner traveled to Northampton, Massachusetts on April 8th, to attend the Wake of their dear friend Wilfred "Will" Challet who passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2010.
Will was a wonderful man, friend and musician. Our condolences to Will's family & friends. We will all miss him greatly.
