On Sunday 10 December 2017 The ACMA Pickin Porch held a memorial concert/jam to honor the memory of Mack Blevins who is best known for his bluegrass banjo style in this region. This concert/jam also served as a "Soft Opening" for the Mountain Music Museum and Pickin Porch 2 in the new Kingsport location. MAKESHIFT
This band is comprised of father and son Vernon and James Story, and also Tim Decker and Gary Laws. Their harmonies are second-to-none. Their instrumentation is thoroughly professional in every manner. If they're playing and you're in the area, be sure to drop in. They're worth it! NOTE: This band is no longer an active group.
I had the pleasure of jamming with James Story, Gary Laws and Tim Decker over at The Sunshine Market in Elizabethton. Unfortunately, Vernon Story was not in attendance. We played for several hours. I played fiddle, James played mandolin and guitar, Gary played standup bass and Tim played banjo. Everyone in attendance said we sounded great together. I fully agree!
TYLER WILLIAMS BAND
This is a thoroughly professional group of musicians who can really "kick it up"! Tyler plays guitar and sings powerfully. His friend, Ashley Davis, does a super job playing fiddle and singing. Haley Stiltner (often times plays with Rhonda Vincent) provides an incredible banjo to the mix and sings wonderfully, too. Kenny Williams plays a great bass and sings. This is a performance you won't want to miss. NOTE: This band is no longer an active group.
